2017 Adventure Race Season

2017! What a year for adventure racing in Pennsylvania!
 

Our season began in February with The Meltdown Adventure Run and Adventure Race.

These winter events included a 2 hour foot only adventure run and a 6 hour foot and bike adventure race. 

In June we combined to have a 3, 6, and 12 Hour Adventure Races in one grand day of fun filled adventure. Beginners and seasoned teams alike paddled, biked, and navigated their way around Wharton State Forest with fundraising efforts benefiting the park itself! The 12 HR event was a USARA National Qualifier and a NAARS series participant. 

July brought back The 12 Hour Krista Griesacker Memorial Adventure Race, where teams of 2-3 hiked, biked, paddled, rappelled, navigated, and completed an obstacle course over some pretty rugged terrain. This event was a USARA National Qualifer and benefited the PA Wing Civil Air Patrol Search and Rescue School.

In September, GOALS organized, designed, and hosted the 2017 USARA Adventure Race National Championship, where 60+ teams from around the country converged in northeastern Pennsylvania for 30 HOURS of non- stop adventure. It was an honor to organize the event and showcase all that our state has to offer to the outdoor community!

Finally, we wrapped up our season in October with The Edge Adventure Race, to benefit Marsh Creek State Park. Solos, and teams of 2-3 enjoyed a beautiful day of biking, paddling, navigating, and trail running.
