Course Description: This course is designed
for people who enjoy the outdoors, as well as for those who wish to learn
more about outdoor training. Class is designed for all physical levels.
Upon completion of course students will have
knowledge and practical skills training and should be able to:

Identify and discuss the psychology of survival

Have knowledge and skills training of basic survival
equipment and foods

Start a fire with basic materials
-
Have familiarization with area edible vegetation
-
Have knowledge of water purification and water
filtration techniques

Have skills training in land mobility and light hiking

Have skills training in building natural shelters
-
Be able to identify basic map colors and symbols on a
topographical map

Have an understanding on how to read a topographical map
-
Have knowledge of land navigation and compass use
REQUIRED GEAR: Students are responsible for providing
all gear and food. A list of required gear will be provided upon
course registration.
WHAT’S INCLUDED: Great training and fun.
Limited gear may be available for use.
DIRECTIONS AND TIMES:
Course runs 9am-3pm.
French Creek State Park is located off of PA 345
south of Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, and north of PA 23.
The park is in Berks and Chester Counties.
