TEAM GOALS ARA

Team GOALS ARA is a group of experienced ultra endurance racers from a variety of backgrounds. Over the past several years, our combined experiences include over 50 adventure races 24 hours or longer in length, marathons, ultra running events, triathlons, Ironman, and Triple Ironmen events as well as numerous traditional road and mountain bike races and shorter running events.

Our core team is composed of Jeremy Kuhlen, Bruce Wong, Jonathan Neely, Kristen Dieffenbach, and Kirsten Gum. We are professionals who work full time and compete at the highest level of our sport. Jeremy has 7 years of adventure racing experience and is the VP of sales with Wealthcare Capital Management. Bruce has a long resume of marathons, triathlons and solo ultra events as well as 6 years of adventure racing. He is the manager of Industrial Engineering and Strategic Planning for Charming Shoppes. Jonathan is a financial director with AT&T Consumer Finance and has 7 years of competitive adventure racing experience. Kristen has a PhD in Exercise and Sport Science and Sport Psychology has her own coaching and sport psychology consulting business. She also teaches at Frostburg State University in Maryland . She has been competing in adventure racing for 5 years. Kirsten works with OLN, and has competed in adventure races for 5 years.

Team members have been to over 20 expedition events combined including: Subaru Primal Quest, Eco Challenge North American Championships, Appalachian Extreme, Raid the North, Raid the North Extreme, Endorphin Fix (E-Fix), PHEAR, North Georgia Adventure Race, US Adventure Racing Association 24 hour National Championships, and Beast of the East.

 

Jeremy Kuhlen

-Lives in Richmond , VA with wife Dana and son Jake
-BBA - Marketing, James Madison University
-VP/Sales - Wealthcare Capital Management
-Adventure racing for 7 years
-Started mountain biking in college and then started out mountain bike racing. From there he moved on to 24hr mountain bike races, then got into adventure racing in 1999 and has done many large events including the Primal Quest 2004.
-2005 Highlights - 1st place E-Fix, 2nd place Beast of the East (qualifying us for AR World Championship in Sweden in 2006) with Jonathan and Bruce.

Bruce Wong

-Lives in Morrisville , PA
-BS Industrial Engineering, Syracuse University
-Manager of Industrial Engineering and Strategic Planning for Charming Shoppes
-Adventure racing for 6 yrs
-Has a long history of running, adventure racing, triathalon and ironman events. He has competed in Jays Challenge, the Umstead 50 miler, the App Extreme, the Swamp Stomp, Primal Quest 2004 & 2003, numerous Odyssey events, Raid the North Extreme 2002, the Boston, New York, Maui and Marine Corp Marathons, and Ironman Florida just to name a few.
-In 2005, named the New York Adventure Racing (400+ members) NYARA 2005 Male Adventure Racer of the Year.
-2005 Highlights- 1st in the Ultimate Green Mountain Adventure Race, and 2 nd in the Odyssey Beast of the East 6 day Adventure Race Virginia (qualified for Worlds Championships in Sweden August 2006 with Jeremy and Jonathan)

Jonathan Neely

-Lives in Mine Hill , NJ
-BS Mathematics and Economics, MA Applied Statistics, University of Pittsburgh
-Financial Director - AT&T Consumer Finance
-Adventure racing for 7 years
-2005 highlights included wins at Endorphin Fix, Ultimate Green -Mountain and the Genesis 12-hour Series (Male Division). As well as a 5th Place Coed at Appalachian Extreme and a 2nd Overall at Beast of the East (qualifying us for AR World Championship in Sweden in 2006) with Jeremy and Bruce.
-Course Director for NYARA's The Longest Day in 2005 and returning to direct NYARA's TLD in 2006 and a 24-Hour race in the fall of 2006

Kristen Dieffenbach

-Lives in Frostburg , MD with her husband Chris
-Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Science with an emphasis in sport and exercise psychology, University of North Carolina at Greensboro
-M.A. from the University of Idaho and B.A. from Boston University
-Sport psychology consultant with her own business, Mountains, -Marathons, & More (www.sportpsychonline.com), professional coaching with Peaks Coaching Group and teaches at Frostburg State University
-Adventure racing for 5 years
-Division I collegiate track and field and cross country runner
-Highlights in 2005 were 2 nd place female/4th overall in the Triple Ironman, 2 nd in the Odyssey 24 hour race in April, and 1 st in the Ultimate Green Mountain adventure race

Tom Curtis

-Lives in Philadelphia
-Retired from USAF, 20 years active duty service
-Management Consultant for non-profit youth agency in NYC
-Began racing career in 1970's as runner and cyclist, added USAF skills of mountaineering, rock climbing, endurance swimming and survival skills
-Adventure Racing since 1998
-Competed in over 80 marathons, 11 ultra marathons, countless triathlons and duathlons
-Recent highlights: Yough Extreme (12 hours) 3rd Coed 2004: AFC Fitness Challenge (12 hours) 1st Overall 2004: Cradle of Liberty (24 hours) 1st Overall 2005: The Savage (6 hours) 1st Coed 2005: Florida Coast-to-Coast 14th

Kirsten Gum

- Has competed in several sprint and expedition adventure races.

Susan Rheingold

-Lives in Philadelphia, PA -MD
- University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine
-BA - Dartmouth College
-Pediatric Oncologist, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
- Started doing marathons in 1998 and triathlons on 1999. In June of 2006 made the mistake of drinking some beers with some of these adventure racers at a multisport club meeting and next thing you know I am riding single track in the dark, learning to rappel, swimming in 40 degree weather, and doing races that make an Ironman look short.
- 13 marathons, including Boston x 4. Eight Half -Ironmen, Ironman Lake Placid in 2003
-2006 Highlights: Cradle of Liberty 24 hour 1st place, Ultimate Adirondack 3rd place, Odyssey 2 day mega race 2nd place.

Keith Wobeser

- Lives in Gladwyne PA
- BS in Physical Therapy and BS in Biology, University of Saskatchewan
- Manager and Physical Therapist for Pain Relief and Physical Therapy in Havertown PA
- background in sports at National level in speedskating and rowing for over 15 years
- started doing Marathons, Ultras and Triathlons 8 years ago including 7 Ironman finishes and multiple Marathons finishes with a PR of 2:54.
- began Adventure Racing in 2006
