THE AFC ADVENTURE CHALLENGE

Come and be a part of Philadelphia history! The Aquatic and Fitness Center in cooperation with GOALS Adventure Racing Association is staging the first ever adventure race in Philadelphia. This 12 hour urban/suburban race will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Racing teams will swim, trek, orienteer, bike, traverse, canoe, and complete team challenges while helping a worthy cause.
 
To help prepare interested athletes, there will be a series of pre-race clinics held at the various AFC locations. Discounted registrations to the clinics are offered to AFC members and GOALS ARA Members.
 
Racing for this great cause is both rewarding for participants, volunteers, spectators, and sponsors.
 
Grab some friends and come on out for a great, fun challenge!
 
RACE DETAILS

TEAM CATEGORIES:

Single gender team of either two or three

Co-ed teams of either two or three

MASTERS teams of those over 45 of either two or three members

100 Meter swim
8-10 miles of running and orienteering
35 miles of road and mountain biking
8 miles of paddling
Fun team challenges!

PRE-RACE CLINICS:
 
Pre- race clinics will be offered from January 2004 – May 2004.
Introduction to: Adventure Racing, Mountain Biking, Navigation Skills,
Fixed Ropes Skills, and Canoe Paddling

RACE FOR FREE!!

Racing teams can get involved in helping defray their race costs and
raise money for Multiple Sclerosis all at the same time!

For each $100 the team raises, $10 will be subtracted from
their registration fee!

You could race for free!

SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE

The first teams in each category to register will be entered to win our gear/clothing sponsorship prizes.
 
This is where the team gets adventure racing clothing and/or gear to wear/use during the race, and keep!
 
The team also adapts its team name to the sponsoring company.

  • $25 late fee added to each racer after April 26
  • No refunds for cancellations after April 26
  • This is a USARA Sanctioned event. USARA members should bring their membership card to race registration. An $8.00 race licensing fee is payable for non-USARA members at registration on May 15th.
